August 2017
The Australian Remittance and Currency Providers Association (ARCPA) is very pleased to announce yet another exciting milestone for the remittance industry in the uplift of AML/CTF and Sanctions compliance practice.
Today, the industry association for the remittance industry, ARCPA, launched Version 2 of its world- first Certification Program. This builds upon the launch of the Certification Program in 2016 which the former AUSTRAC CEO, Mr Paul Jevtovic, stated was a “a step in the right direction”.
The Version 2 standard was developed in detailed consultation with industry stakeholders. ARCPA has been working with industry stakeholders and with members to improve compliance within the sector including a webinar education program focussing on the AML/CTF and Sanctions obligations.
The ARCPA Certification program has been designed to comply with the Australian AML/CTF Act 2006 and Autonomous Sanctions Act 2011. The ARCPA Certification program is an independent assessment of an organisation’s approach to and application of risk and compliance policies and controls.
“We encourage remittance providers to adopt this industry standard and incorporate the Certification Program into their internal policies and procedures” said Dianne Nguyen, Director of ARCPA. “This is what is required to uplift the industry’s compliance practice.
“Remittance providers who adopt the ARCPA Certification Program will differentiate themselves within industry and reduce the burden of the banks in their customer due diligence procedures.” said the Director of ARCPA. “The adoption of the Compliance Best Practice will demonstrate the remittance provider’s competency and capacity in managing ML/TF and Sanctions risks.”
World’s First Industry Certification
The ARCPA Certification is a global best practice for the remittance industry and ARCPA expects it to be adopted, in part or full, by industry bodies overseas.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF FAMILY REMITTANCES - JUNE 2017
Australian Remittance and Currency Providers Association pledges support for International Day of Family Remittances

16 June 2017
We, the Australian Remittance and Currancy Providers Association (ARCPA) fully endorse “The International Day of Family Remittances”.
The International Day of Family Remittances was unanimously proclaimed by all 176 IFAD Member States during its Governing Council in February 2015, and in December 2016, the General Assembly took note of this proclamation.
June 16, 2017 is officially designated as International Day of Family Remittances. The day aims to recognize, and raise global awareness of, the fundamental contribution made by migrant workers to the wellbeing of their families and communities back home, and to the sustainable development of their countries of origin.
Remittances represent one the largest single financial forces for good on the planet. At $600 billion, the money sent home annually by migrant workers dwarfs international aid and, in some instances, foreign direct investment too. Remittances also power financial inclusion and disproportionately benefit both the poor and women in emerging markets. Hundreds of millions of families globally rely on these money flows to keep food on the table and a roof over their heads.
Today is a celebration of the hard work, sacrifice and generosity of international workers. As stakeholders in the fintech / remittances / financial services* industry.
We, the undersigned, pledge to work together to enhance innovative financial technology, provide greater efficiency and lower the cost for a more accessible financial sector to all in order to enable poor people to control their financial life.
We call on governments, regulators, financial institutions and development bodies to do everything in their power to help us achieve that aim.
We are committed to celebrating the power of remittances with people throughout the world.
Happy International Day of Family Remittances!
ARCPA board

April 2017
The Australian Remittance and Currency Providers Association (ARCPA) are pleased to announce a milestone for the remittance industry in the uplift of AML/CTF compliance practice.
Last year, the industry association for the remittance industry, ARCPA launched the ARCPA Certification program and it has now awarded its first ARCPA Certifications. ARCPA expects this new designation to become the industry standard for remittance providers. The ARCPA Certification program has been designed to comply with the Australian AML/CTF Act 2006 and Autonomous Sanctions Act 2011. The ARCPA Certification program is an independent assessment of an organisation’s approach and application of risk and compliance policies and controls.
The ARCPA Certification program is “a step in the right direction” says Mr. Paul Jevtovic APM, CEO of AUSTRAC, the AML/CTF regulator of the remittance industry. Mr. Jevtovic commended the industry body on how far it had come in the past 12 months and added that the ARCPA Certification is “a good approach to creating a benchmark for industry to strive for”. He further added that “ARCPA are also to be commended on their desire to collaborate and their acceptance that whilst this a very important step forward, there is still important work to do”.
ARCPA is encouraged by the positive feedback from AUSTRAC.“We encourage remittance providers to adopt this industry standard and incorporate it into their internal policies and procedures” said Dianne Nguyen, Director of ARCPA. “This is what is required to uplift the industry’s compliance practice.
“Remittance providers who adopt the ARCPA Certification program will differentiate themselves within the industry and reduce the burden for banks in their customer due diligence procedures.” said the Director of ARCPA. “The adoption of the Compliance Best Practice will demonstrate the remittance provider’s competency and capacity in managing ML/TF and sanctions risks.”
